Student Information Privacy and CampusConnect Security

The Student’s Rights to Privacy is of utmost concern to SOSU. In compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), your personal registration, financial aid, and billing information is protected by the University. Along with that, students also have the responsibility to help insure that CampusConnect is not used to violate their privacy rights.

In order to protect your rights, you should never tell their PIN to anyone or write it down where others could see it. Also, you should change your PIN frequently.

CampusConnect also has measures to protect your privacy rights. The system runs under a secure web server and provides an encrypted, secure connection between the browser and server utilizing Internet standards based secure sockets layer (SSL). In addition, sessions will “time-out” if left idle for a brief period, and the system does not allow browsers to cache the web pages.

SOSU has also made efforts to protect the system from unauthorized users and hackers. Be aware that anyone attempting unauthorized access or misusing CampusConnect or any University computer system will be subject to disciplinary action, suspension, and/or legal action.
