Child Care Resource & Referral — Licensing Requirements
Child Care Centers are facilities which provide care and supervision of children and which operate more than 30 hours a week. Centers providing drop-in services provide care for children on a drop-in basis and meet the needs of parents seeking occasional or part-time care.
Licensing Requirements for Child Care Centers
Part-Day Children’s Programs provide care and supervision, generally offering preschool or mother’s day out programs, for more than 15 hours and up to 30 hours a week.

School Age Programs and Summer Day Camps provide care and supervision for school-age children, such as before-school and after-school programs, extended day programs, day camps, summer camps and summer park programs for more than 15 hours per week.

Family Child Care Homes offer care and supervision for up to seven children in a family home.

Large Child Care Homes offer care and supervision for eight to 12 children and have more than one provider.

Drop-in Program means a child care program that provides care for children on a drop-in basis where no child is in attendance for more than six hours a day for a maximum of 24 hours a week with an allowance for six extra hours per child three times a year.
In-home Care means hiring someone to come into your home and care for your child.
Relative Care is provided by family members, which includes parent, grandparent, brother, sister, step-parent, step-sister, step-brother, uncle, aunt and cousin.
Child Placing Agency means a child welfare agency licensed to place children in foster family homes, group homes or adoptive homes.

Residential Child Care Facility means a 24-hour residential group care facility with a large number of unrelated children living together with adults other than their parents.
Licensing Requirements for Residential Child Care Facilities
Children’s Shelter means a public or private residential program that provides care and supervision for children in a non-secure environment for a period of time usually not exceeding 30 days. The program provides services for children who are in need of temporary emergency care.
