There is a place for you in the Art Division of Art, Communication and Theatre at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
If you choose to do intensive study in art and want to devote your life’s work to the field, or if you are interested in visual art or want to make art your career, then Southeastern is the place for you.
In the Art Department, you will learn and work with a highly qualified faculty who will give you individual attention in classes and studios. Our faculty takes a genuine interest in helping you to succeed in an art field.
If you want to prepare for graduate studies in art or art history, to teach art to grade school or high school students, or to take courses that will enrich your life and understanding of art-making and cultural diversity—our faculty wants to help you succeed.
Our primary goal in the Department of Art is to prepare you for success as an artist or an artist / teacher.
Together with our outstanding Teacher Education Department, you as a Southeastern graduate in Art Education will be trained in the most up-to-date methods of teaching art to school-age children. As an Art Education Major your preparation in teaching art follows the most recent theories and practices. Graduates completing our Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education get jobs!
As a major in our Bachelor of Arts with a studio emphasis you will receive one-on-one help from faculty who want you help you prepare to go on into graduate study. Our Art Majors have been highly successful in gaining acceptance in graduate programs all over the nation.

Specific scholarship awards are available for Art Education Majors and also for Art Majors as well as fee waivers. Amounts vary and are awarded based on grade point average, art accomplishments and proficiency, potential, and need.
Our combination of small classes and individual attention, interaction with public school programs, and first-rate program curriculum makes Southeastern a unique place to earn an art degree. Our faculty interacts with public schools, with artists and art activities in the area. You will be involved in viewing and participating in quality exhibitions in our Centre Art Gallery.
