ENG 4943  Middle & High School Literature

THREE literature period courses:  choose three or four   (9 hours)

ENG 4013  Medieval Literature

ENG 4213  18th Century Literature in English

ENG 4313  19th Century Literature in English

ENG 4412  20th & 21st Century Literature in English

TWO literature courses focusing on genre, or authors, or special topics EXCEPT ENG 3893        6 hours                      

TWO Eng Writing classes                                                  6 hours

ONE course at the 3000/4000 level

[can be literature EXCEPT 3893, or writing courses]               3 hours

 

Professional Education Component (Minimum 33 hours):

Admission to teacher education is not required for the following courses:

EDUC 2000, Field Experience I (15 hours in public school)

Prerequisite:  30 semester hours completed; must be taken concurrently with EDUC 2013

EDUC 2013, Foundations of Education

Prerequisite:  30 semester hours completed; must be taken concurrently with EDUC 2000

EDUC 3313, Technology Integration for the Classroom

University computer proficiency requirement must be met before or may be taken concurrently

PSY 3123, Child and Adolescent Development for Education Majors

SPED 2123, Introduction to Individuals with Exceptionalities

Admission to teacher education is required for the following courses:

EDUC 3434, Teaching Strategies and Progress Monitoring

EDUC 3002, Pre-Student Teaching Field Experience II (75 hours in public school)

Prerequisite:  EDUC 2000 completed; must be taken concurrently with EDUC 3434

EDUC 4443, Classroom and Behavior Management

(taken before Student Teaching)

EDUC 4000, Pre-Student Teaching Field Experience III (15 hours in public school)

Prerequisite:  EDUC 3002 completed; must be taken concurrently with Student Teaching

ENG 4903, Methods and Media in Secondary English

(must be taken fall semester before student teaching)

Admissions to student teaching is required for the following course:

EDUC 4919, Teaching Experience (9 semester hours)
