Dr. Stewart Mayers holds a B.A. in history from Baylor University, a master’s degree in mathematics education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, and a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Georgia.  His research focuses on instructional leadership and legal issues in education.  He has presented papers at a variety of national and international conferences including the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the National Staff Development Council, and the Education Law Association.  He has co-authored three books: Supervision and Staff Development in the Block (with Dr. Sally Zepeda), The Call to Teacher Leadership (with Dr. Sally Zepeda and Dr. Brad Benson and Supervision Across the Content Areas (with Dr. Sally Zepeda). Dr. Mayers is also a regional reporter for the School Law Reporter (SLR), the flagship publication of the Education Law Association. He writes summaries of court cases from federal district courts across the country and the 5th and 8th Circuit Courts of Appeals for publication in SLR each month. Dr. Mayers is also author of Social Media, Public Schools, and the Law, a monograph published by the Education Law Association.

Dr. Mayers is a former high school teacher and department chair who has taught mathematics, social studies and German.  He serves as organist at his church and his wife teaches 8th grade United States History at Piner Middle School in Sherman, Texas.  Dr. Mayers resides in the Durant, Oklahoma area.
