Susan Morrison is a National Board Certified Teacher (Early Childhood Generalist). In 1999, she was among the first teachers in the state of Oklahoma to be granted this certification. In 2008, she was re-certified through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.

Dr. Morrison holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, an M.Ed. in Educational Administration from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, and an Ed.D. in Supervision, Curriculum, and Instruction from Texas A & M University—Commerce, where her dissertation research focused on reading fluency. She taught 16 years in elementary schools in North Texas and in Oklahoma prior to becoming a faculty member at Southeastern in 2004. She holds both a general teaching certificate and a reading specialist certificate in Oklahoma.

She has authored five peer-reviewed journal publications, and has served on the editorial board for The College Reading Association’s Yearbook and The Reading Teacher and regularly presents at the Association of Literacy Educators and Researchers (formerly the College Reading Association) national conference. Susan and her husband, Nate, currently live in Durant and are the proud parents of Jacob, Noah, and Hannah.
