International Student Services

Admission to Southeastern

Thank you for your interest in attending Southeastern Oklahoma State University (Southeastern)!  There are 3 types of international student admission: freshmen, transfer, and graduate. An international student is not a United States citizen and does not have permanent resident status. More specifically, international students are those on F visas.

Admission Dates

  • Fall semester: June 15 for students outside of the U.S.; July 1 for students in the U.S.
  • Spring semester: November 10 for students outside of the U.S.; December 1 for students in the U.S.
  • Summer session: April 1 for students outside of the U.S.; May 1 for students in the U.S.

International Undergraduate Students (Freshmen)

Bring final original transcript and proof of graduation to Southeastern

  1. Complete Profile
  2. Academic Records: Original final secondary (high school) transcript(s) and original diploma and/or certificate of completion.
    1. Original = issued by a school or examination board with an official signature and school stamp or seal.
    2. If your transcript is not issued in English, we require the original document as well as an English translation done by your school(s) or a professional translating company.
    3. If you are in last semester of your final year of secondary/high school, Southeastern requires a signed letter from a school administrator that you are expected to graduate on ______ (date).
      • Admitted students must still bring an original final transcript and proof of graduation (e.g., diploma) to Southeastern in order to enroll in classes.
  3. English Proficiency:  Internet-based TOEFL score of 61 or an IELTS Academic score of 5.5; taken within 2 years of enrollment.
    1. For TOEFL, let us know your registration number and have your score report sent to Southeastern (institution code: 6657).
    2. For IELTS, let us know your  TRF number.
    3. Students with an Internet-based TOEFL score between 48 – 60 or an IELTS score of 5.0 may complete a minimum of 12 weeks in an ESL program approved by the Oklahoma State Regents and meet the English language proficiency requirements.
    4. You do not need TOEFL or IELTS scores if: 1. English is your first language  2.  You graduated from a U.S. high school with 4 years of English
  4. Financial Support DocumentationSubmit an Undergraduate Affidavit of Financial Support along with an original bank statement stamped and signed by a bank official (within 6 months of your enrollment) demonstrating that your sponsor has a liquid US$ balance that covers the cost of your enrollment at Southeastern for the first year of your degree program. All documents must be in English. If not, an English translation must accompany the original.
  5. Passport Name Page: Copy of the biographic page of  your passport showing your name, date of birth, passport number and expiration date. If dependents will accompany you to Southeastern, provide copies of their passport biographic pages, along with marriage and birth certificates, as applicable, to verify your family relationship.
  6. US $55.00 Application Fee:   This is not refundable. You have two options for making the payment:
    1. Credit card: Call the Southeastern Business Office (+1-580-745-2350) with a credit card number and your Student ID (we will e-mail your student ID number to you after you submit the Complete Profile). Note: Please tell the Business Office that you are an international applicant. 
    2. Money order: Pay to Southeastern Oklahoma State University (in US$ and with your name on it). 
  7. Receiving your I-20: We now use eShipGlobal to send I-20’s to students. Please follow this link https://study.eshipglobal.com/ to pay for the delivery of your I-20 and the method. You may contact the International Admissions office if you have any questions at 580-745-2184 or iss@se.edu.

International Undergraduate Students (Transfers)

  2. Academic Records: Original final post-secondary transcript(s) and, if applicable, diploma(s) from each college or university attended.
    1. Transfer student requirements are 24 hours of college/university credits with a 2.0 Grade Point Average (GPA). If you have completed fewer than 24 hours of college/university credits, you must also submit original final high school/secondary transcript(s) and an original diploma and/or certificate of completion.
    2. Original = issued by a school or examination board with an official signature and school stamp or seal.
    3. If your transcript is not issued in English, we require the original document as well as an English translation done by your school(s) or a professional translating company.
    4. Post-secondary records from outside the U.S. must be analyzed by a NACES educational credential evaluation service such as  IERF   or  WES   or  ECE. For IERF, students need to choose the “detailed report” option and select Southeastern Oklahoma State University from the menu. IERF will send the evaluation of your records to our International Student Services office.
  3. English Proficiency:  Internet-based TOEFL score of 61 or an IELTS Academic score of 5.5; taken within 2 years of enrollment.
    1. For TOEFL, let us know your registration number and have your score report sent to Southeastern (institution code: 6657).
    2. For IELTS, let us know your  TRF number.

International Graduate Students

International students can apply to 4 graduate programs at Southeastern (each program has unique admission requirements):

  1. Master of Science in Sport Studies and Athletic Administration
  2. Master of Technology
  3. Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling
  4. Master of Business Administration – Online only (F1 students may not apply)

    3. You do not need TOEFL or IELTS scores if: 1. English is your first language  2. You have a bachelor’s degree from a U.S. college or university or other English speaking country.
  4. Financial Support:  Submit a Graduate Affidavit of Financial Support along with an original bank statement stamped and signed by a bank official (within 6 months of your enrollment) demonstrating that your sponsor has a liquid US$ balance that covers the cost of your enrollment at Southeastern for the first year of your degree program. All documents must be in English. If not, an English translation must accompany the original.
  5. Passport Name Page: Copy of the biographic page of  your passport showing your name, date of birth, passport number and expiration date. If dependents will accompany you to Southeastern, provide copies of their passport biographic pages, along with marriage and birth certificates, as applicable, to verify your family relationship.
  6. GRE Scores: Only the Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling requires a GRE score. For this program, official GRE scores must be sent directly to Southeastern from a GRE testing center. Scores are valid for 5 years
  7. US $55.00 Application Fee:   This is not refundable. You have two options for making the payment:
    1. Credit card: Call the Southeastern Business Office (+1-580-745-2350) with a credit card number and your Student ID (we will e-mail your student ID number to you after you submit the Complete Profile). Note: Please tell the Business Office that you are an international applicant.

  8. Additional: The Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and the Master of Science in Technology have additional requirements.
