General Education Checks

Once a student has completed 60 or more credit hours, an official General Education Check is recommended. Students should contact the Registrar’s Office either in person or by phone to make an appointment. The Registrar’s Office begins accepting appointments at the beginning of the semester up to the tenth week of a regular semester (fall or spring) and up to the fifth week of a summer semester.

New transfer students may apply for a general education check during their first semester at Southeastern. Transfer students should be prepared to supply course descriptions for all transfer courses appearing on the transcript. These descriptions will be used to determine course equivalencies.

Application for Graduation

At the beginning of the last semester of course work, students seeking a bachelor’s degree should contact the Registrar’s Office either in person or by phone to make an appointment for a final graduation check. The Registrar’s Office begins accepting appointments at the beginning of the semester up to the tenth week of regular semester (fall or spring) and up to the fifth week of a summer semester. At the time of the final graduation check appointment, the student must present a final clearance note from the academic major advisor approving the student for graduation.

It is important that graduating students (bachelors and masters) apply for graduation by the printed deadline to ensure that a diploma is ordered and the student’s name is included in the commencement program. A $25 graduation fee is due before graduates can pick up any official transcripts or diploma.

Diploma Re-Orders

When a diploma is lost or destroyed, it may be reordered by sending a written request to the Registrar’s Office. This request should include:

  • Student’s Name as it is to appear on the diploma
  • Degree Earned
  • Semester Graduated
  • Social Security Number
  • Date of Birth
  • Address to Send the Diploma
  • Daytime Telephone Number in Case of a Problem
  • Student’s Signature
  • Copy of an ID with a Signature (used to verify signatures)

There is a $25 fee for the new diploma that may be submitted by check or money order. Once the request is received, a new diploma will be ordered with Southeastern’s regular diploma order at end of the semester. Allow 6–8 weeks for delivery after the end of the semester.
