Assistant Professor of Education – Language Arts, Social Studies and/or Early Childhood
Southeastern Oklahoma State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Elementary Education with a focus in Language Arts, Social Studies and/or Early Childhood at the Assistant Professor classification. Candidates should have an earned doctorate degree in elementary education, curriculum/instruction or reading from an accredited university. A record of successful college or university teaching is preferred. Candidate must hold a valid teaching license in Oklahoma or Texas or obtain the same before hiring. The position requires teaching and advising responsibilities. This position also requires the successful candidate to serve on Residence Year Committees for first year teachers and some visitation of student teachers. Tenure track faculty members will be expected to provide evidence of effective classroom teaching; research/scholarship; and contributions to the institution and profession commensurate with rank. The position may require a multiple campus assignment as well as varied time and delivery methods.
Southeastern Oklahoma State University, founded in 1909 as a teacher college, continues the strong tradition of producing outstanding educators for southeast Oklahoma and north Texas. Student enrollment on the campus(s) is approximately 4200 and the campus is situated in rural Oklahoma. The main campus is located in Durant, Oklahoma, which is 80 miles north of Dallas, Texas and 150 miles southeast of Oklahoma City. Employment is contingent upon the results of a national criminal and sex offender background check.
