Assistant/Associate Professor in Behavioral Sciences

The Southeastern Oklahoma State University Department of Behavioral Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track assistant/associate professor position in Criminal Justice/Sociology. Although the fields of specialty are open, candidates are expected to have an earned a Ph.D. with Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology, or equivalent as the primary area of concentration. ABD with a reasonable expectation of completion by August 15, 2010, will be considered. We are especially interested in candidates with active research agendas, commitment to high quality teaching and dedication to service to the department, university, profession and the community.

This position may require multiple campus assignments as well as varied time and delivery methods. Prior to issuing a letter of appointment, official transcripts from each degree-granting institution must be received by the Office of Academic Affairs.

This position is stationed at the McCurtain County Branch Campus in Idabel, Oklahoma. Idabel is located in the southeast corner of the state, some 100 miles east of the main campus in Durant, Oklahoma.

Founded in 1909, Southeastern Oklahoma State University enrolls approximately 4,500 students in 44 undergraduate and 7 graduate degree programs. The central campus is located in Durant, Oklahoma, 80 miles north of Dallas, Texas, and 150 miles southeast of Oklahoma City. More than 200 undergraduate students are currently majoring in Criminal Justice, which is one of the fastest growing programs on our campus.

Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience. Employment is contingent upon the results of a national criminal and sex offender background checks.
