Business Analyst - Oklahoma Small Business Development Center

The Business Analyst reports to the State Director and supports the administrative reporting, quality control, research, small business counseling and training, public relations activities of the Small Business Development Center per the Cooperative Agreement with the U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the State of Oklahoma.

Education, Training and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, computer information systems, or other closely related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Professional
  • Experience working with database input and database report creation
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Ability to apply basic deductive reasoning skills

Candidate should also possess exceptional listening skills, ability to successfully organize, multi-task, meet deadlines, and work independently without close supervision.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Accounting, Marketing or Finance
  • Five years business experience to include management, payroll, accounting, marketing, and banking

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Business Analyst works closely with the Assistant State Director/Systems Planning in activities designed to monitor program quality and verify adherence to established internal control procedures. This includes direct oversight and reporting of client satisfaction, needs analysis, and impact surveys. In addition, the business analyst is responsible for the preparation and submission of required reports to management, staff, participating universities, and other funding sources, as requested by the State Director. The business analyst interacts with the MIS software vendor to troubleshoot problems and provides technical support to the fourteen network centers. It also includes supervision of student office staff to perform work in the support of other related SBDC activities.

The Business Analyst works closely with the Director of the Southeast Region Center to provide one-on-one counseling services to small business clients and training workshops to the small business community. The business analyst counsels individuals from diverse backgrounds providing the training and instruction necessary to start or expand a business. This includes identifying problem areas within a small business and developing solutions for those problems by applying business management and accounting principles, practices, and techniques. The business analyst will assist small business clients in the development of business plans and pro forma financial statements.
