Auditoriums/Facilities Technician/Scene Shop Assistant

Job Summary
This position reports to the Chairman of the Department of Art, Communication and Theatre. It assists in the coordination of the special events in the Visual and Performing Arts Center and Montgomery Auditorium and assists the Theatre Technical Director in the Theatre Scene Shop as directed by the Chairman of the Dept. of Art, Communication and Theatre. Its primary purpose is to help maintain all facilities and equipment on a daily basis; assist with coordination of event load-ins, load-outs; serve as a sound/light technician/advisor during all events scheduled in the facilities; assist with promotional, university and academic special events; and assist in the Theatre Scene Shop as scheduled by the Chairman.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the Facility Manager with supervision of selected events scheduled in the facilities. This could include overseeing the set-up of materials, lights, sound, hook-ups, technical support (running sound and lights), the load-in and load- out of events, and other duties as required. Also included is the supervision of student workers who assist in the completion of these duties.
This position is also assists in the maintenance and upkeep, including routine custodial duties, of the facilities and its equipment, including the sound and lighting equipment, the auditoriums, soft goods, and all storage areas.
Due to events that utilize the facilities at all times during the day and night as well as weekends and school holidays, work hours must be flexible.
This position at times will also serves as a Scene Shop Assistant, which includes the construction, painting, installation and rigging of scenery, lighting, props, sound, and direction of student assistants using power tools and equipment in the Scene Shop and Theatres.

Minimum Education, Training, and Experience
Required: High school diploma with working knowledge and experience in all aspects of sound reinforcement, stage lighting and electricity, scenery construction and installation; good public relation skills; ladder work and lifting weight up to 50 pounds.
Preferred: BA/BFA degree in theatre production/technology. Working knowledge and experience in counterweight rigging strongly preferred.
Must be eligible to work in US. Employment is contingent upon the results of national criminal and sex offender background checks.
