Job Summary
The recruiter is responsible for the counseling and assisting of prospective students in choosing Southeastern Oklahoma State University as their potential university. The recruiter will always be expected to present Southeastern Oklahoma State University in a positive and effective manner. This individual must be able to effectively and positively convey to a diverse constituency the features and benefits of the University.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Represent the University at high schools, community colleges, public functions and university events to encourage enrollment of students to Southeastern.
- Actively seek to build relationships, provide information and encouragement to individuals involved in the college enrollment decision-making process.
- Develop and implement recruiting strategies to achieve enrollment goals.
- Schedule and pre-plan high school and college day visits.
- Recruit at high schools and college visitation programs.
- Conduct campus tours and conference with prospective students and parents whenever they visit the University.
- Communicate admission policies to students, parents, middle and high school principals, counselors and teachers, community college students, faculty, staff and administrators.
- Support the university community by attending functions and participating in planned activities. Since the recruiter is often the University’s only contact with prospective students, he/she must be knowledgeable about University happenings.
- Weekend and after hours work is required.
- Other duties as assigned by the University Recruitment Coordinator or the Dean of Enrollment Management.
Minimum Education, Training, and Experience
Required: Bachelor’s degree. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficient knowledge and use of Microsoft Office. Extensive travel required. Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Preferred: A graduate of Southeastern Oklahoma State University with an understanding of the unique qualities of the university.
