This scholarship was established to honor the memory of Kent Ashton, son of Elizabeth (Liz) and Kirk Ashton. Kent passed away as a young man after battling health issues for most of his life. Preference will be given to a current SOSU student with diabetes and/or epilepsy.

Applicant(s) must have graduated in the top 20% of his or her high school class or have scored a 20 or higher on the ACT exam. The scholarship will be awarded on a yearly basis. However, the recipient shall receive benefits on a per semester basis (fall & spring). Previous recipients may reapply each year for the scholarship if he or she maintains a 2.5 GPA. Selection will be based on financial need, academic potential, and leadership ability.
