This grant was awarded to Southeastern Oklahoma State University from the AT&T Foundation in the amount of $10,000. The effective date of the grant is December 21, 2010. This grant's Project Director is Ms. Kathy Hendrick, Center for Regional Economic Development Director. The purpose of this grant is to ensure that area youth begin early to identify local economic opportunities as a way to engage them and keep the best and brightest in the region. The WORK program focuses on providing resources to junior and senior high schools with applicable projects to encourage students to continue their education, plan for their future, learn the relevance of math and science, gain parental support, not drop out of school, and realize the workforce opportunities in the local job market.

This grant was awarded to Southeastern Oklahoma State University from the U.S. Department of Energy via Oklahoma Department of Commerce in the amount of $500,000. The effective date of the grant is December 22, 2010. This grant's project director is Mr. Eddie Harbin, Director of Physical Plant. The purpose of this grant is to implement Phase II of the Energy Performance Contract with Siemens Building Technologies, Inc. an APOGEE (software platform) Demand Flow Solution with facility improvements that include air handling unit modifications, building value replacements, pump modifications, VFD installations, cooling tower replacement, chiller replacement, and balancing system. Southeastern's match funds are $335,000 making the total project cost $835,000.
Small Business Jobs Act Program…………………………..………...………………$563,357.00
This grant was awarded to Southeastern Oklahoma State University from the U.S. Small Business Administration in the amount of $563,357. The effective date of the grant is January 1, 2011. This grant's project director is Dr. William Carter, Director of Oklahoma Small Business Development Center. The purpose of this grant is to enable existing Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) to support job creation and retention within the small business community through effective SBDC individualized, in-depth, entrepreneurial advice to nascent and existing small business owners. SBDCs should use this funding to demonstrate increased innovation in areas such as: delivery of their services; service to new or additional markets not otherwise covered; and programs that will create the next generation of entrepreneurs. Potential projects might include: improving the level of international trade assistance offered; collaborating with incubators; collaborating in regional innovative economies; enhancing SBIR services; growing micro businesses; apprenticeship to entrepreneurship programs; and assisting spin-off businesses that bring university research to the marketplace as well as other technological and innovative ventures.
Veterans Assistance and Services Program……………….…………..……….……$100,000.00
This grant was awarded to Southeastern Oklahoma State University, lead university for the Oklahoma Small Business Development Center (OSBDC) from the U. S. Small Business Administration in the amount of $100,000. The effective date of the grant is January 1, 2011. Project director for the grant is Dr. William D. Carter, State Director of OSBDC. Benefits of the project will be felt statewide. Northeastern State University has agreed to a key project development role. The purpose of this grant is to provide business development programs and services for veteran entrepreneurs and veteran owned small businesses through the Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) located throughout Oklahoma. The project focus will be to: A) develop and implement a marketing plan to promote awareness of existing business development services of the SBDC Network and collaborating entities available to veterans, service-disabled veterans, military units, federal and state agencies that work with veterans, and other private non-profit veterans organizations; B) to develop and deploy an online counseling and distance-learning capability to overcome the impediments to small business ownership and entrepreneurship faced by veterans, including, especially, the 'virtual' integration of service providers and resources for a one-stop point of contact for veterans and organizations that provide complimentary veterans assistance services; C) finally, the project will include training and assistance to all SBDC service centers and collaborating entities in Oklahoma on the deployment and implementation of the assets developed through the project.

This grant was awarded to Southeastern Oklahoma State University from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services via Oklahoma Partnership for School Readiness Foundation, Inc. in the amount of $500. The effective date of the grant is January 18, 2011. This grant's project director is Mr. Scott Hensley, Director of Continuing Education and Career Management Center. The purpose of this grant is to provide professional development activity for the Smart Start Community Coordinator. Allowable costs will include registration fees, travel, and lodging.

This grant was awarded to Southeastern Oklahoma State University from the Inasmuch Foundation via Oklahoma Partnership for School Readiness Foundation, Inc. in the amount of $2,250. The effective date of the grant is February 1, 2011. This grant's project director is Mr. Scott Hensley, Director of Continuing Education and Career Management Center. The purpose of this grant is to provide travel funds for three community representatives to the Smart Start North Carolina National Conference to be held May 3-5, 2011 in Greensboro, NC. Allowable costs will include air and ground travel plus non-conference meals and incidental expenses.
RUSO - Violence Prevention Project...………………………….……..……….……..$111,409.52
This grant was awarded to Southeastern Oklahoma State University from the U.S. Department of Justice via East Central University in the amount of $111,409.52. The effective date of the grant is October 1, 2010. This grant's project director is Ms. Sharon Robinson, Vice President for Student Affairs. The purpose of this grant is to continue the replication and implementation of existing and new key practices and policies with the Regional University System of Oklahoma-Violence Prevention Project (RUSO-VPP), with East Central University as the Principal Institution, and RUSO member institutions to strengthen and enhance: 1) coordinated community response teams; 2) mandatory prevention and education programs for incoming students; 3) training for campus police or public safety officers; 4) training for members of campus disciplinary or judicial boards; 5) partnerships for safer communities and enhance the Nation's capacity to prevent, solve, and control crime; and 6) maintain data that measures results of the work according to established performance measures.
