Louis Stokes – OK Alliance for Minority Participation………………...……………..$32,000.00
The National Science Foundation via Oklahoma State University awarded this grant in the amount of $32,000 to increase the number of under-represented minorities entering the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields by providing research opportunities and mentors, scholarships, and summer internships. Project director is Dr. Tim Patton, Associate Professor Biological Sciences.
The following grants have been awarded to Southeastern Oklahoma State University:
An Assessment of Selected Population Dynamics Parameters of American Alligators on Red Slough Wildlife Management Area…………………………………………………$20,000.00
The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service awarded $20,000 to Southeastern to conduct research to assess overwinter survival of juvenile American alligators and for assessing spotlighting survey protocols for American alligators.. The effective date of the grant is August 31, 2011. This grant’s principal cooperator contact is Dr. Tim Patton, Associate Professor Biological Sciences who will supervise students to conduct the research.

The National Endowment for the Arts via Mid-America Arts Alliance awarded a grant in the amount of $2,500 to fund the concert fees for the Musical Art Series. The Texas Boys Choir will present a demonstration/workshop for the Elementary Children’s Choir festival. The grant’s Project Director is Dr. Jeri Walker, Director of Musical Art Series and Department of Music. The community-engagement activities will include teachers, students, and interested community members of the Texoma region of Oklahoma and North Texas, and is designed to enrich the lives of the people in our small communities.
