Oklahoma INBRE-Summer Intern Supplies………………………………........$2,200.00
This grant was awarded from the National Institute of Health (NIH) via University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) in the amount of $2,200. This grant’s Project Director is Dr. Teresa Golden, Assistant Professor Biological Sciences. Southeastern is a member of the Oklahoma INBRE (IDEA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence) consortium, and SE faculty are eligible to serve as research mentors and host OK-INBRE-funded summer interns. The purpose of the grant is to mentor a selected Oklahoma student in the research lab environment focusing on the role of an enzyme, PP5, in a human cell’s response to stressful conditions and its potential roles in cancer promotion.
Southeastern Child Care Resource & Referral Library……………………..$18,815.00
This grant was awarded from the Choctaw Nation Child Care Assistance in the amount of $18,815. This grant’s project director is Mr. Scott Hensley, Director of Continuing Education and Career Management. The purpose of this project is to continue funds for 50% of the Resource and Referral Specialist salary and fringe benefits.
Southeast Region Child Care Resource & Referral………..………...........$118,364.00
TThis grant was awarded from the Oklahoma Child Care Resource and Referral Association in the amount of $118,364. This grant’s project director is Mr. Scott Hensley, Director of Continuing Education and Career Management. The purpose of this grant is to ensure that all families in the Southeast Oklahoma service delivery area have access to quality child care and education for their children through community-based resource and referral services. The primary goal is to ensure consistent, high quality services to families, child care providers, employers, and communities.
Oklahoma Small Business Development Center ………….……….........$1,228,062.00
This grant was awarded from the U.S. Small Business Administration in the amount of $1,228,062. This grant’s project director is Dr. William Carter, State Director of the Small Business Development Center. The purpose of this grant is to provide small business assistance in Oklahoma. The Oklahoma Small Business Development Center (OSBDC) is a partnership including the SBA, the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, and the universities and colleges that support local SBDC service centers. The OSBDC network provides low cost training and free business management counseling for business owners and new entrepreneurs throughout the state. Currently there are thirteen offices.
Upward Bound Program………………………...………………………………$461,594.00
This grant was awarded from the U.S. Department of Education in the amount of $461,594. This grant’s Project Director is Mr. Larry Dresser, Director of Upward Bound. This grant will fund Upward Bound to serve approximately ninety-six students in six counties to generate skills and motivation necessary for success in education beyond high school. The program serves students from first generation, low-income families who have need for academic support. During the academic year, students will be offered tutoring, mentoring, and trips for cultural and educational enrichment.
