REFERENCE SOURCES
Search the reference collection for brief facts, biographical
information, addresses, telephone numbers, statistical information, articles
in encyclopedias, general and subject, on all aspects of human knowledge. Much
information is included in the general encyclopedias, such as Compton's,
Academic American, or World Book. However, more specialized information
is included in subject encyclopedias. Additional information can be found in

Periodicals are a useful source
to gather current information on a topic. You look for information on a
topic by using a periodical index. These indexes are arranged by subject,
and tell you what magazines and journals have articles on that subject.

| Academic Search Elite Academic Search Elite provides full text for nearly 1,490 academic, social sciences, humanities, general science, education and multi-cultural journals. In addition to the full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for over 2,670 journals. Over 1,700 journals are peer reviewed. Full text backfiles go as far back as January of 1990, while indexing and abstract backfiles go as far back as January of 1984. This database is updated daily on EBSCOhost. |
| Business Source Elite Business Source Elite provides full text from over 1,020 journals covering business, management, economics, banking, finance, accounting and much more. In addition to the full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for nearly 1,560 journals. This database contains popular business publications such as Business Week, Forbes, and Harvard Business Review, and hundreds of scholarly, peer reviewed journals. Also included is Wall Street Words, a dictionary of financial terms, linked directly to words within the citations and full text. | Health Source: Consumer Edition This database is the richest collection of consumer health information available to libraries worldwide. This resource provides access to nearly 300 full text, consumer health periodicals, including American Fitness, Better Nutrition, Fit Pregnancy, Harvard Health Letter, HealthFacts, Men's Health, Muscle & Fitness, Prevention, Vegetarian Times, Women's Health Weekly, and many others. In addition to full text, indexing and abstracts are provided for nearly 300 periodicals. The Vertical File cabinets on the first floor (by the
Juvenile section) contain folders on numerous environmental topics such
as: Cancer, Bacteriology, Immunization, heart-diseases, gastrointestinal
system-diseases, hypertension, diseases, herpes, health, myocardial infarction,
medical care, medicaid.
Government documents are materials such as reports, handbooks, manuals, studies, congressional hearings about many different Subjects. The collection is arranged by the department of government. Most items in the government documents area can be accessed by subject by using the computer catalog for books. The Government Documents collection is housed on floor 2A.

Services has most of the items that are on the subject of medicine and
