Southeastern Seeks Input On New Logo And Mascot
Press Release Date: 02-14-2006
Southeastern Oklahoma State University has recently adopted a new nickname, Savage Storm, which will be used by Southeastern’s athletic teams and other University groups. The University needs to identify a mascot for its athletic activities, a sports logo, and related imagery that will be associated with Southeastern’s Savage Storm.
The term “Savage” in Southeastern’s Savage Storm nickname is an adjective that has no association with Native Americans, but means fierce, ferocious, devastating, overwhelming, or powerful as it relates to a major Storm.
The Mascot and Logo Committee requests original design suggestions and proposals for Southeastern’s new logo and mascot. The deadline for receiving all proposals is Thursday, March 9, 2006. Proposals may be sent as an email message to savagestorm@se.edu or be delivered to Mr. Jason Hicks, SOSU Print Shop, Southeastern Oklahoma State University c/o Jason Hicks, 1405 N. Fourth Street, PMB 4138, Durant, OK 74701. Phone: 580-745-2842.
Anyone who submits an original design suggestion may sketch, draw, or create electronically the proposed mascot or logo, and provide an explanation, if needed, to help the committee understand the major parts of their mascot or logo design. Finally, be sure to list your name, address, and phone or email address on each sheet you submit. Once submitted, all design proposals become the property of Southeastern Oklahoma State University and are subject to revision.
An individual or group may submit more than one suggestion. Please use a separate sheet or set of sheets for each proposal.
The Southeastern Mascot and Logo Committee will review all proposals received and submit their recommendations to President Johnson by Monday, April 24, 2006.
