Wesberry, Imotichey Head New Native American Education Project At SOSU

Chris Wesberry has been named Academic Advisor and NAEIE Project Director at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
He serves as the academic advisor for Native American students attending SOSU. In addition to his academic advising duties, he is also the project director for the Native American Excellence In Education project (NAEIE). NAEIE is a federal grant designed to assist Native American students in completing their degree in teacher education and become certified to teach in the Oklahoma public schools.
Wesberry also teaches a student success course, coordinates Native American Visitation Day, assists with the Native American Student Council. He received his bachelor’s degree at East Central University and master’s degrees in Secondary Education and School Counseling. He brings 10 years of experience of working with the Chickasaw Nation with him, and seven years in higher education.
Jana Imotichey is the Academic Advisor for the NAEIE grant. Imotichey graduated from Tishomingo High School and then from Oklahoma State Technical School in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, where she earned an associate of applied science in Business Data Processing. She spent 17 years working in the data processing and information technology fields prior to returning to school at SOSU in January 2000. While completing her bachelor’s of science in Computer Information Systems, she also worked as a secretary in the Computer Science and Electronics Department. Imotichey has taught Computers in Society and Continuing Education courses at Southeastern, where she has been employed for five years.
