SOSU Hosts Art Show
Press Release Date: 02-13-2007
The third-annual Great Plains Juried Art Show will be presented from February 19 through March 22 in the Visual and Performing Arts Center Gallery.
Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s Department of Fine Arts and the Red River Arts Council will host this art show.
The Great Plains Art Show is a nationally competitive show. Quality entries have been juried into the show from as far away as New York City and Costa Mesa, Calif. Media included in the show range from photography to welded metals.
This year’s judge is Vicki Mayhan, Professor or Art and Director of Galleries at Collin County Community College in Plano, Texas.
“We are very pleased to have Ms. Mayhan judge our show this year,” said Dave Barnes, Assistant Professor in SOSU’s art department. “She has a very keen eye, combined with a liberal and inclusive artistic sensibility that makes her the perfect judge for a small but growing show like the Great Plains.”
Monday’s opening will feature a 6:30 p.m. public reception in the VPAC Gallery. Awards will be announced at that time. The Red River Arts Council has generously provided funds for up to $1,000 in award monies.
