Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s Department of Fine Arts and the Musical Arts Series will present pianist Jeff Lankov in recital Sunday, February 18, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. Sunday in the Fine Arts Recital hall.

Local audiences will remember Lankov from his appearances as pianist in recent dinner theater productions staged by the Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival.

Lankov is a pianist and musical director and active in both classical and popular styles. He has performed with conductors such as Anshel Brusilow, Kirk Muspratt and Leonard Bernstein. Recent performances have included solo recitals, chamber music concerts and concertos of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Falla, Grieg, Gershwin and Bernstein.

His solo recitals often feature works by living composers and unusual juxtaposition of repertoire. Concerts this season will include an evening of music written for toy piano and prepared piano; Lankov’s own solo-piano transcription of Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring; and, in his European debut, a program of piano music by American composer Robert Zavier Rodriguez.

Lankov has recorded The Music of George Gershwin. He regularly performs in major entertainment venues throughout the United States and has appeared with artists such as Phyllis Diller, Joan Rivers, Johnny Mathis and The Platters.

He has served as Musical Director for productions by Radio City Music Hall, Dallas Summer Musicals, and the Dallas Theater Center and has 1,000 performances of Forever Plaid, the longest-running show in Dallas/Fort Worth history.

He recently saw the premiere of his new theatrical production, Love Is Here To Stay: A George Gershwin Revue, at the Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival.

Lankov received his formal training at the St. Louis Conservatory of Music and Interlochen Arts Academy. He is currently the Artist-in-Residence at the University of Texas at Dallas and Principal Pianist of the Richardson Symphony Orchestra.

There is no admission charge for Sunday’s Lankov piano recital and the public is invited to attend.
