Dr. Douglas McMillan has been named Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

That announcement was made by Dr. Jesse Snowden, who assumed the duties of Interim President of SOSU on January 17, when current University President Glen D. Johnson began his new duties as Chancellor of the Oklahoma State System of Higher Education.

“Dr. McMillan has a great deal of experience and expertise to offer the University as we move forward during this period of transition,” Dr. Snowden said. “He is a valuable member of the Southeastern executive team and we look forward to working with him in this new capacity.”

Dr. McMillan currently serves as Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dean of the School of Graduate and University Studies, and Interim Director of the SOSU McCurtain County Campus.

He joined the SOSU faculty in 1990 as an Assistant Professor of Psychology and Counseling. Dr. McMillan holds a bachelor’s degree from Midwestern State University, a master’s from the University of Southern Mississippi, and a Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University.

“I am honored to serve the University in this new role,” Dr. McMillan said. “Southeastern is a university that has prospered because of leaders like President Johnson and because of a dedicated faculty and staff that is committed to excellence. Dr. Snowden will do an outstanding job as interim president and I appreciate the confidence that he has placed in me.”

The Regional University System of Oklahoma (RUSO) is currently conducting a search for a permanent replacement for President Johnson.
