Press Release Date: 02-05-2007
Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s Musical Arts Series presents Zephyros Winds in concert Thursday, Feb. 15.

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Recital Hall. There is no admission charge and the public is invited. Zephyros will also present a program for the Durant Public Schools earlier that day.
The event is funded in part by grants from the Mid-America Arts Alliance, the Oklahoma Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Featuring brilliant virtuosity and expressive depth, Zephyros Winds is recognized as one of the nation’s leading chamber ensembles. With appearances at major venues across the country, the group made its concerto debut with the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra and Louis Langree conducting the Mozart Sinfonia Concertante, K. 297b, to open the festival’s 2004 season.
The Philadelphia Museum of Art engaged the group to create a program complementing the museum’s recent exhibition, “Manet and the Sea.”
Zephyros has toured with renowned pianist and chamber musician Charles Wadsworth and performed as guests of the New York Woodwind Quintet at Alice Tully Hall, and the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival.
The group has performed for numerous prestigious events, including the French Embassy in Washington, D.C., celebrating the centenary of Francis Poulenc’s birth.
Radio broadcasts include “Performance Today” for National Public Radio, Public Radio International’s “Music from Chautaqua: and WNYC’s “Around New York.”
Zyphyros has presented master classes at the Julliard School and the Yale School of Music. The group’s recording of Irving Fine’s “Partita for Woodwind Quintet” is on Bridge Records.
The group’s New York debut was at Merkin Concert Hall in 1997. Zephyros is made up of graduates of the Curtis Institute of Music, Yale School of Music, Eastman, and the Julliard School and is based in Manhattan, where its members are energetic contributors to New York’s musical community.
