DURANT, Okla. – Rachel Lynn wrapped up a record-breaking senior season and career with a selection to the 2008 Louisville Slugger/NFCA First Team All-American.
Lynn, a native of Skiatook, Okla., set the Southeastern Oklahoma State single season record for hits with 91, breaking the old mark of 87 held by both Kelly Baker and Kim Nichols.
She is also second in multiple career and season offensive categories.
She finished just two hits shy of tying the career record for hits with 278, as well as runs scored with 192, 14 runs shy.
In the season categories, she was one run away from tying the record for runs scored, crossing the plate 66 times this season. She was also just three steals away from the season steals mark, swiping 48 bases.
She hit better than .400 in her final two seasons at SOSU, with a .438 average in 2007 and a .414 mark in 2008. Lynn finishes as a career .381 hitter with nine home runs and 97 RBI over four seasons.
She stole 129 bases in her career, while also amassing 27 doubles and 10 triples.
"A great competitor," said head coach Ron Faubion of Lynn, "She was a spectacular four-year player and a hard worker."
Lynn becomes the first All-American for the SOSU softball program since Adrienne Stoops earned the honor in 2001.
