Southeastern Community Band Concert Set for July 14

DURANT, Okla. -- The Southeastern Oklahoma State University Community Band will present its annual concert of the summer on Monday, July 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the Ballroom at the Old Student Union on the Southeastern campus.

Under the direction of David Christy, SOSU Director of Bands, the Community Band will perform "Into The Clouds!," by Richard Saucedo; "Variations On A Korean Folk Song," by John Barnes Chance; "Morceau Symphonique," by Alexandre Guilmant; "Broadway! A Medley Of Showstoppers," arranged by Jack Bullock; "Slane," arranged by Douglas Wagner; "Eighties Flashback," arranged by Paul Murtha; "The Thunderer," by John Philip Sousa; and "Pas Redouble," by Camille Saint-Saens.

Featured soloist on the concert will be Chris Gregg, Director of Bands at Durant High School. He will be accompanied by the band on the trombone solo "Morceau Symphonique."

Guest conductors on the program will include Jason Matherly, Director of Bands at Tom Bean (Texas) High School and Dr. Mike Raleigh, Retired Director of Bands from Denison, Texas.

The 50-member band is comprised of University students, townspeople, area band directors, and outstanding high school musicians from throughout the Texoma region. There will be no admission charge for the concert.
