October 22, 2008
DURANT, Okla. -- The Barnes and Noble Southeastern Bookstore presents a book-signing with author Cordell Adams at noon Friday.
A 1982 graduate of Southeastern, Adams is now an ophthalmologist at Baylor University Medical Center, in Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Adams' debut novel, Light Bread, is a story about a charming grandmother, Veola Cook, and her resolute desire to solve the love, life and longing issues of all Parkerville, Texas, residents by involving herself in their personal business.
What she discovers when she examines trash that had been dumped on her front porch raises eyebrows and perks ears of everyone in town.
Adams will discuss the larger-than-life femme fatale based on a woman he was proud to call his own grandmother.
Books will be available and everyone is encouraged to visit with Dr. Adams at noon Friday at the Barnes and Noble Southeastern Bookstore, N. 5th Avenue and University.
