Michele Claxton Named Director of Continuing Education

DURANT, Okla. -- Michele Claxton has been named Director of Continuing Education at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

Claxton, a native of Healdton, has served in various capacities in the TRIO program at Southeastern for 18 years. She was TRIO Program Director for the past 10 years. In her role as Director of Continuing Education, she will oversee the traditional program offerings, in addition to assisting with the University's outreach programs.

"Michele brings a wealth of expertise and experience to this position," said Southeastern president Michael D. Turner. "Her leadership skills, combined with the relationships she has established with the faculty, staff, students and community, will serve her and the University well as we move forward."

"In today's knowledge-based economy, life-long learning is not an option, but a necessity," Claxton said. "I am excited about the opportunity to develop and deliver innovative educational programs designed to meet the current economic needs of business and industry, as well as expand offerings within the enrichment areas."

Claxton earned her bachelor and master's degrees at Southeastern. She has a son, Cole (13), and twin daughters Jade and Shaya (8).
