SOSU Professor James Wintle is the subject of a doctoral project in the College of Music at the University of North Texas. Young Mi Seo, a candidate for the degree Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance will present as her doctoral lecture recital and dissertation topic, 'A Stylistic and Analytical Study of The Key for trumpet and piano by James Wintle. The program will take place at 6:30 in the concert hall of UNT on April 20th.
The program will consist of a 30 minute lecture on Dr. Wintle’s music and a performance of "The Key", with trumpet soloist Dr. John Holt.
Ms. Young is a native of South Korea. She received the Master of Music degree in piano from the New England Conservatory. She currently studies with internationally known pianist and author, Joseph Banowetz.
Dr. Wintle commented, "I have enjoyed the experience of working with Young Mi Seo. We had several interviews and spent a good deal of time together discussing my music and her approach to it. She is a talented performer and I look forward to the program, which will be a new experience for me. I am usually in attendance at a recital as a composer with a work on the program, not as the subject of the presentation. Her teacher, Joseph Banowetz, is one of the finest pianists and teachers in the US. I am proud that he is a part of this project".
