DURANT, Okla. -- Southeastern Oklahoma State University faculty and staff made July 23 "Clean Up, Fix Up Day" at the University Equestrian Center.
Director of Athletics Keith Baxter said, "We had 25 to 30 people put in about 150 to 160 man-hours in a relatively short time. I've always been proud of being from Southeastern and this just solidifies that.
"Everybody pulled together in this effort. There was great enthusiasm for this project and I feel we really made an impact on something bigger than any of us individually."
A cross-section of volunteers from the athletics department to faculty-staff to administrative personnel showed up to lend a hand.
The volunteers donated time, labor and lots of sweat while mowing, weeding, cleaning and sweeping to help make the Equestrian Center sparkle.
Rodeo, which has been impressively successful through the years, has now been placed under the umbrella of athletics.
Baxter said, "This was just a group effort by Southeastern people for Southeastern people. We just wanted to do something to let coach Holly Fred and her athletes know we're proud of them, we're proud of their success and we welcome them into Southeastern's athletics family."
