Southeastern Homecoming set for Oct. 24-25

DURANT, Okla. -- Southeastern Oklahoma State University's 2008 Homecoming celebration is scheduled for October 24-25.

Friday, Oct. 24, opens with the popular Whang Bang Golf Tournament at Silverado Golf Course. The Houston Debate Reception, and a bonfire/pep rally in the amphitheater are also major attractions. New this year is a reunion of past orientation leaders.

Saturday, Oct. 25, opens with the former athletes' breakfast at 7:30 a.m. in the lobby of the Bloomer Sullivan Gym.

Saturday also includes a Centennial Historical Marker unveiling in front of the Morrison Building and the Homecoming Parade that starts at 10 a.m. on Main Street in downtown Durant.

The Alumni Homecoming Awards Luncheon is set for 11:30 a.m. with an Alumni Tailgate party starting at noon across from the football field. Pre-game activities will feature recognition of the Distinguished Alumni at 2 p.m. with kickoff scheduled for 2:30 as the Savage Storm will host Northeastern State.

The evening concludes with the Gold and Blue scholarship event in the Visual and Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m.

Friday, October 24

  • 9 a.m. -- Registration ­ Whang Bang Alumni Golf Tournament, Silverado Golf Course (10 a.m. shotgun start)
  • 7 p.m. -- Houston Debate Reception, 2001 Radio Road, home of Drs. C.W. and Faye Mangrum
  • 7:30 p.m. -- Bonfire/Pep Rally ­ Amphitheater
  • 9 p.m. -- SSL Orientation Leader Reunion, 1516 N. 12th Avenue, home of Vice-President Sharon Robinson

Saturday, October 25

  • 7:30 a.m. -- Former Athletes' Breakfast ­ Bloomer Sullivan Gym lobby
  • 9 a.m. -- Centennial Historical Marker Unveiling ­ in front of the Morrison Building
  • 10 a.m. -- Homecoming Parade ­ Main Street, Downtown
  • 11 a.m. -- Activities and entertainment ­ front lawn of Morrison Building
  • 11:30 a.m. -- Alumni Homecoming Awards Luncheon -- Old Student Union Ballroom
  • 12 noon -- Alumni Tailgate ­ Alumni Alley, across from football field, University and N. 2nd Avenue
  • 1:30 p.m. -- Marching Band enters football field
  • 2 p.m. ­ Pre-game activities ­ introduction of Distinguished Alumni
  • 2:30 p.m. -- Kickoff ­ Southeastern vs. Northeastern State
  • 7 p.m. -- The Gold and Blue ­ Visual and Performing Arts Center
