Dr. Douglas McMillan named Vice President for Educational Outreach and Project Development

DURANT, Okla. The Regional University System of Oklahoma Board of Regents has approved the administrative recommendation that Dr. Douglas McMillan be named Vice President for Educational Outreach and Project Development at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
In his new role, Dr. McMillan will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing comprehensive learning outreach programs and projects to ensure that the University fulfills its mission to the region. He will be working closely with all operations at Southeastern's branch campus and extension campuses, and with distance learning and continuing education.
"We are constantly examining ways in which to better meet the needs of our students," said Dr. Larry Minks, Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. "This is a major step as we continue to re-align the roles and responsibilities of the academic affairs function of the University."
Over the past 18 years. Dr. McMillan has served Southeastern in a number of capacities, including Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dean of the School of Graduate and University Studies, and Interim Director of the SOSU McCurtain County Campus.
"I look forward to the challenges and opportunities of this new position," Dr. McMillan said. "The support of President (Michael) Turner and Dr. Minks is very much appreciated as we all work together to move forward as an institution."
Dr. McMillan joined the Southeastern faculty in 1990 as an Assistant Professor of Psychology and Counseling. He holds a bachelor's degree from Midwestern State University, a master's from the University of Southern Mississippi, and a Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University.
Dr. McMillan and his wife Delia are the parents of two daughters, Amber (25) and Meredith (18), and a son, Carter (15). The McMillans also have a grandson, Tex (1).
