Historical Marker Ceremony Set for October 25 at Southeastern's Morrison Hall During Homecoming

DURANT, Okla. -- Southeastern Oklahoma State University's 2008 Homecoming, set for Oct. 24-25, will include a centennial twist this year.

Although the University's centennial will be officially celebrated in 2009, a special ceremony to place an historical marker in front of Morrison Hall will be held on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 9:00 a.m.

Southeastern president Michael Turner, student representatives, and other dignitaries will attend the unveiling ceremony, which will take place near the front steps of the building.

"Throughout the centennial, we will placing similar markers across campus to recognize historical sites," Turner said. "The Morrison Building is the logical place to begin, as it is our oldest and most recognizable building."

The building opened in 1911 and housed administrative offices, classrooms, an auditorium, and gymnasium. In 1969, the building was named in honor of former Southeastern president W.B. Morrison.

The ceremony is open to the public.

Other traditional homecoming events include the alumni golf tournament, parade, and Alumni Awards Luncheon.

Friday, October 24

11:30 a.m.	Alumni Homecoming Awards Luncheon – Old Student Union Ballroom
