Weiner named Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs; Clark appointed Dean of Graduate & University Studies

DURANT, Okla. Dr. Charles Weiner has been named Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. He has held that position on an interim basis since last fall.
Dr. Weiner is in his 18th year at Southeastern, having served in a number of capacities, including Chair of the Professional Education Department, Executive Director of TAPSI, Coordinator of the Master of Education program, and North Central Self-Study Coordinator. For the past eight years Dr. Weiner has been a member of the Office of Academic Affairs and has served the University as the Director of Student Learning and Institutional Research, Director of Research and Sponsored Programs, and the Coordinator for the Higher Learning Commission/ North Central Association Accreditation.
He is also a Professor of Education in the Department of Educational Instruction and Leadership.
A native of Deerfield, Illinois, Weiner holds a B.S. in Education, a M.Ed. in Learning Disabilities, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Oklahoma.
His responsibilities include overseeing assessment, program review, institutional research, accreditation, University documents and publications, state and federal reporting, the University's Academic Policies and Procedures Manual, undergraduate academic appeals, and research-sponsored programs.

In addition, Dr. Bryon K. Clark has been appointed Dean for the School of Graduate and University Studies at Southeastern. He had previously served in that area as Associate Dean.
Clark's responsibilities will include the oversight of Southeastern's graduate and general education programs. In his new capacity he will work with the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs in administration of both the graduate and general education programs, program management for each area, faculty development, and evaluating the programs.
Clark received his B.A. in biology from Central College, Pella, Iowa; his M.S in biology from Western Illinois University, Macomb, Ill.; and his Ph.D. in biology from Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kan.
Clark joined the Southeastern faculty in 1990, and his teaching and research interests include mammalogy, evolution, general biology, general zoology, mammalian ecology and conservation biology. Clark has authored, or co-authored, more than 30 publications and numerous grants. During his 18 years at Southeastern he has served as Director of General Education, chair of the Faculty Senate, and the chair of the Department of Biological Sciences.
