Southeastern students participate in Oklahoma All-Collegiate Choir
Press Release Date: 03-26-2009
DURANT, Okla. -- The Oklahoma All-Collegiate Choir concert is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Episcopal Church in Tulsa.
Each year, the Oklahoma Choral Directors Association sponsors the Choir, which is made up of selected singers from Oklahoma universities and colleges.
In conjunction with this event, a master class is held to encourage young conductors. Students are selected through an audition process to conduct the All-Collegiate Choir in the master class while working with the top choral conductors in the nation.
This year's clinician is Jo-Michael Scheibe, Director of Choral Activities at the University of Southern California. Three students were chosen to conduct for him in the master class.
All three students are from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, which speaks to the quality of Southeastern's choral program, under the direction of Dr. Stacy Weger, Director of Choral Activities.
Students selected to conduct during the master class are Weslee Vance, Denton, Texas; Cheri Conway, Lone Grove, Okla.; and Sara Hudson, Allen, Texas.
Southeastern will also have 10 students participating in the Oklahoma All-Collegiate Choir. Trinity Episcopal Church is located at 501 S. Cincinnati in Tulsa. The concert is free and open to the public.
