Southeastern vocal jazz group to perform in Tulsa

DURANT, Okla. -- CAT 5, Southeastern Oklahoma State University's vocal jazz ensemble, will be the featured entertainment for the Oklahoma Music Educators Association Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Thursday, January 29, in Tulsa. The induction ceremony is a highlight of the OMEA Winter Conference, honoring Exemplary Teachers, Administrator of the Year, and Hall of Fame recipients. CAT 5 will perform as the opening to the ceremony.

This ensemble performs a wide range of vocal jazz stylings, from the 1930s to present day. Stacy Weger, Director of Choral Activities, says "It is a distinct honor for this group to be selected to perform for such a distinguished group of musicians. A majority of Oklahoma's music educators attend this conference, and this allows us to once again showcase the excellence of our choral program and students on the state level."

The Southeastern Chorale was featured in performance in 2007 at the conference. Members of this ensemble include: Jocelyn Batts, Cheri Conway, Sara Hudson, Matt Rizzo, and Weslee Vance.
