DURANT, Okla. -- Southeastern Oklahoma State University hosted the 8th annual Honors Program Spring Symposium the week of March 2-6.

Guest speaker Cordell Adams was featured in a packed Student Union Auditorium on Thursday.

Adams is a 1982 graduate of Southeastern, and a doctor of ophthalmology in Dallas, Texas.

He is the author of Light Bread, a novel that covers the life and times of a charming grandmother who can't resist becoming involved in the personal business of every resident of Parkerville, Texas.

Other Spring Symposium week events included a Theological Forum and the New York Times discussion.

The Theological Forum featured speakers from Southeastern's faculty: Dr. Glenn Melancon, Dr. Stanley Rice, Dr. William Fridley, Dr. William Mawer, Mr. David Barnes, and Dr. Jerry Polson.

The Honors Program Spring Symposium was sponsored by the Cultural and Scholastic Lectureship Fee Committee, the SE Honors Program, Alpha Chi, the Honors Advisory Council, and the School of Arts and Sciences.
