DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern Oklahoma State University faculty member Dr. Kimberly Donovan recently acquired a prestigious national credential.

Donovan, Associate Professor of Counseling in the Department of Behavioral Sciences, has been granted national board certification as an Approved Clinical Supervisor in clinical mental health counseling.

The Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) is a voluntary national credential that identifies mental health professionals who have met nationally recognized clinical supervision standards.

The ACS attests to the educational background, knowledge, skills, and competencies of clinical supervisors; promotes their professional identity, visibility, and accountability; and encourages their professional growth through ongoing continuing education requirements.

Only clinical mental health service providers or supervisors licensed or certified by the state are eligible to receive this prestigious national credential. In addition to being recognized as an ACS, Donovan is also an Oklahoma Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), an Oklahoma Approved LPC Supervisor, and a National Certified Counselor.

There are only 30 individuals in the states of Oklahoma and Texas who currently hold this distinguished credential, three of whom are employed at Southeastern. Specifically, Drs. Donovan, Ed Mauzey, and Daniel Weigel, all Counseling Graduate Faculty Members in the Department of Behavioral Sciences at SE, are nationally certified as Approved Clinical Supervisors.

Mauzey, chair of the department, said, "We are very fortunate to have Dr. Donovan on the faculty here at Southeastern. She is highly respected by students and her faculty colleagues."
