Brunch and snacks were provided.

Students participated in Inauguration Day trivia to win commemorative prizes such as T-shirts, bags, and travel coffee mugs. All prizes had images of Barack Obama, the 44th president of the United States of America.

More than 200 students, plus faculty, staff, and administrators, came to see history unfold. President Michael D. Turner and wife Lisa were also in attendance.

The Union was filled with members of the Southeastern community sitting and standing to hear President Obama take the oath of office and deliver the inaugural address.

People clapped and cheered – and it was also the quietest the Union had ever been with so many people present.
