Southeastern professor Dr. "Mo" Chehbouni to visit university in Morocco
DURANT, Okla. – Dr. "Mo" Chehbouni of Southeastern Oklahoma State University has been invited to visit the University Hassan II, Mohammedia Morocco.
Chehbouni, assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry, Computer, and Physical Sciences, is the invited guest of the Hassan Chemistry Department.
During his visit in December, Chehbouni will give seminars about research findings on heavy metal remediation and explore the possibility of scientific collaboration between the Southeastern and Hassan II chemistry departments. In addition, an open session with undergraduate and graduate students will be held to help students understand the difference in the educational systems of the United States and Morocco.
Dr. Chehbouni, with his host, Dr. Jamal Bennazha, has been very active in creating a link between both universities. The visit is sponsored by the Moroccan FINCOME program run by the CNRST: "Centre Nationale pour la Recherche Scientifique et Technique."
"With my visit to University Hassan II, and among other goals, I am hoping to make Southeastern a natural choice for Moroccan students seeking a degree from the U.S.," said Dr. Chehbouni.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for Dr. Chehbouni and for both universities," said Southeastern interim president Larry Minks. "To be invited to participate in such an important event demonstrates the quality of professors who teach at Southeastern. And we look forward to receiving feedback from Dr. Chehbouni following his visit."
Chehbouni holds a Ph.D in inorganic chemistry from Oklahoma State University, and a master's in Chemical Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences in Aachen, Germany.
