Southeastern hosts Native American Visitation Day

DURANT, Okla. -- Southeastern Oklahoma State University's Native American Student Visitation Day was held Wednesday.
The event was open to students in grades 10, 11, and 12. Some 177 students from 13 schools attended.
The keynote speaker was Richard Hight, an award-winning artist and teacher, as well as a much sought-after motivational and inspirational speaker. Also on the program was Dr. Andrew Tiger, Southeastern John Massey Endowed Chair and Professor of Management, who spoke to students about the SE business degree with a Native American option.
Krystall Barnes, Referral Specialist with Southeastern Childcare Resource and Referral and Outreach Specialist with Smart Start Durant, spoke briefly about an art project she is doing with Jones Academy. Several pieces of art from those students were on display.
Liz McCraw, Dean of Enrollment Management, awarded two $250 tuition waivers to seniors who will be attending Southeastern in the fall of 2009. Those students are Jeremiah McCain and Whitney Turner, both from Achille High School.
