DURANT, Okla. -- Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s Dr. Claire Stubblefield will be honored with a scholarship in her name sponsored by the Tulsa Christian Ministers Alliance and the Tulsa Chapter of the NAACP.

Stubblefield is special assistant to the president, director of institutional diversity and the affirmative action officer at Southeastern.

The scholarship ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 29, at the Greater St. John’s African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church in Tulsa.

Stubblefield said, "I believe my mission in life is to provide the spark for others to experience success. It may be through my words, it might be through my actions, it might be through a smile. As the old Negro spiritual says, "...if I can just help somebody along the way, then my living will not be in vain.

"The scholarship may be the spark someone needs to experience success."

Rev. W.R. Casey Jr. said, "The Tulsa Christian Ministers Alliance has been awarding scholarships for more than 20 years. We send scholarship applications to all high schools. We chose to present a scholarship in Dr. Stubblefield’s honor because we have read about her and know she has made her mark. She has achieved well in her chosen field."

Recipients of the scholarships may use the money to attend the college or university of their choice.
