Four SE faculty members to attend OSRHE grant writing institute

DURANT, Okla. – Four faculty members from Southeastern Oklahoma State University have been selected to attend the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE) Summer Grant Writing Institute in Oklahoma City July 26-30.

Participating from Southeastern wiIl be Dr. Nancy Hill, Education; Dr. Barbara McClanahan, Education (McCurtain County campus); Dr. Teresa Golden, Biological Sciences; and Dr. Hal Poovey, Occupational Safety and Health. Paul Buntz, SE grant coordinator/writer, will also attend as a mentor.

The purpose of the Institute is to complete an actual grant proposal by the end of the Institute. Participants will select a grant proposal topic and an agency or foundation solicitation and send all information regarding the proposal with the application. Before the Institute, participants will attend a preliminary workshop to research the literature for documentation on the need for the project. They will also write as much of a rough draft as possible before the Institute begins.

At the Institute, each participant will work with a small group of writers and a mentor for four days to complete and refine the grant proposal.

A total of 41 faculty members from across Oklahoma were selected to attend the Institute.
