Southeastern contributes monetary donations, jeans to Haiti relief efforts

Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s Office of Student Life accepts a $500 donation for the Change for Haiti relief effort. The check was presented by Wendy Brush, left, manager of the College Inn Commons Apartments. DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s Office of Student Life has collected more than $670 in donations to the American Red Cross to aid in the SE for Haiti relief efforts.
Student Life Activities Coordinator Stephanie Howeth said the major contribution was a $500 check from the College Inn Commons Apartments.
Southeastern has also collected more than 30 pairs of jeans to be sent to teens in Haiti.
The collection of money and jeans will end Friday. Students, staff and faculty are encouraged to participate. Donation booths are located in the Student Union Atrium and the Library. Jeans may be left in the Student Union, room 305, or in the Library.
Aeropostale stores will match the first 100,000 pairs nationwide on donated jeans. Donations of $10 may also be made to the American Red Cross by sending a text message with the word “Haiti” to 90999. Donors will be charged through cell phone bills.
Donations will be accepted through Friday.
