DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern Oklahoma State University's Kathryn Plunkett has been selected to attend the Mountain Plains Library Association (MLPA) 2010 Library Leadership Institute.

Plunkett, the Digital Information Literacy Librarian at SE's Henry G. Bennett Memorial Library, is one of three individuals from Oklahoma (only 30 overall from the 12 member states) chosen to attend the MPLA Institute.

She was hired in 2008 as Southeastern Technical Services Supervisor. She is now the online learning librarian, maintains the library website, which was selected as the Website of the Month by the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACLR) just one month after it was made public, and she is the Supervisor of the new Southeastern Center for Funding Research.

Before coming to Southeastern, she was the Cataloger and Serials Supervisor at Austin College in Sherman, Texas.

The Institute will be held in Estes Park, Colo., April 25-30. Institute facilitator is Maureen Sullivan, who was recently named Academic/Research Librarian of the Year by the ACLR.

Plunkett said, "I have been very fortunate this past two years to work with and learn from a gifted leader, our library director, Sharon Morrison, so a week with Maureen Sullivan will be icing on the cake. I am also eager to meet my colleagues from the other Mountain Plains states, but especially the two from Oklahoma."

The Mountain Plains Library Association is a 12-state association of librarians, library paraprofessionals and friends of libraries in Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming. Its purpose is to promote the development of librarians and libraries by providing significant educational and networking opportunities.

Funding sponsors of the Institute are MPLA, Innovative Interfaces, and EBSCO Information Services.
