University Singers to present performance on Nov. 14
Press Release Date: 11-8-2010
DURANT, Okla. – University Singers will present “A Musical Interlude” on Sunday, November 14, at 3 p.m. the Fine Arts Recital Hall at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. The concert is free and open to the public.
While serious choral literature is always performed by this ensemble, University Singers includes lighter and more current music in its programming. This ensemble is open to all singers on the Southeastern campus. The music for this fall concert is a mix of sacred and secular music. Selections for this concert range from "O occhi manza mia" (O Eyes of My Beloved) by Orlando di Lasso, a Renaissance work, to a familiar folk song arrangement "O Susannah!" arranged by Jonathan Crutchfield.
Jeremy Blackwood, Director of University Singers, said: "This is an ensemble that is made up of mostly non-music majors. These individuals participate because of their enjoyment in singing. In the preparation for our concert this semester, the excitement of the music has been contagious as we have explored a wide diversity of material from Renaissance music, folk songs, to spirituals."
Dr. Robert McFadden and Dr. Mary Ann Craige will serve as accompanists for this concert.
