Project TEACH orientation set for March 22

DURANT, Okla. – An orientation session for the Southeastern Oklahoma State University Project TEACH program will be held Tuesday, March 22, from 3:30-5 p.m. in the Glen D. Johnson Student Union (#213).

Project TEACH (Training Educators to Accept the Challenge) is a Student Support Services program specifically designed to enhance Teacher Preparation for K-12 education majors. This new and innovative program, funded by the U.S. Department of Education in the amount of $220,000 annually, is one of 81 Project TEACH programs in the nation and the only one of its kind in Oklahoma.

The mission of this program is to provide academic and student support to increase 140 eligible education majors’ retention, academic success, and graduation rates. Services include development of personalized education plans, tutoring, academic advisement, workshops, personal counseling, supplemental instruction, cultural activities and diversity training, certification test study sessions, and mentoring and internships.
