Carnival of Cultures

The Carnival of Cultures was held Tuesday at Southeastern.

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern Oklahoma State University's Carnival of Cultures is a celebration of diversity and uniqueness of students from several countries.

The Carnival of Cultures has been a part of University programming in some form for the last 20 years. It is an opportunity for faculty, staff and students to enjoy the cultural richness of our University.

It is a program commemorating the heritage, traditions and food of Southeastern's International Students.

This year's Carnival, held Tuesday, featured 20 participants from the International Students Association (ISA). The event was hosted and implemented by these students. Eri Turek, a graduate student worker, coordinated the event in conjunction with ISA.

Turek, from Japan, is in her second year at Southeastern. She is pursuing her master's degree in Community Counseling.

The cast of 20 international students celebrated the rich cultural history of their respective countries through song, dance and spoken word for a crowd of 120 people.
