Jazz ensemble to present "Struttin' With Some BBQ" Oct. 11

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s Jazz Ensemble will present "Struttin' With Some BBQ" at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the Southeastern amphitheater.

The ensemble is directed by Dr. Brian Walker, Instructor of Trumpet and Music Theory. Walker has revived the popular program, which had a previous 10-year run. This will be the second concert/BBQ feast since Walker took over the group.

The concert is free and the public is encouraged to come out for smokey BBQ and smooth jazz. Smokey Allen's will provide the BBQ for the public with prices starting at $5 per plate. The Southeastern Jazz Ensemble will feature standards and new jazz compositions by Maynard Ferguson, Wayne Bergeron, Tom Kubis, Eric Applegate, Count Basie, and many more.

The featured soloist is Denison, Texas, sophomore music education major Helen Moore.
