Southeastern’s Kathy Hendrick receives Governor’s Commendation for service on workforce board

DURANT, Okla. – On behalf of Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin, Keith Buelow, Southern Workforce Board Chairman, presented the Governor’s Commendation to four board members for outstanding contributions and dedication to Southern Workforce Board’s workforce development initiatives.

The Southern Workforce Board is industry-driven and its mission is to implement the strategic process that aligns workforce with economic development in partnership with the community to maximize opportunities and address needs.

Among the four recipients was Kathy Hendrick, Director of the Southeastern Oklahoma State University Center for Regional Economic Development. She has served on the Southern Workforce Board for two years. She is the chair of the SWB’s Business Services Team and serves on the Strategic Planning Committee.

Hendrick was instrumental in the development of the Texoma Regional Consortium (TRC), a two-state alliance with Southern Workforce Board and the Texoma Workforce Development Board (Texas ) in 2005. Due to the TRC collaboration and partnering with two states, the region is now also involved in a tourism branding initiative centered around Lake Texoma and the Choctaw and Chickasaw Nations resorts. The TRC has won state, regional, and international awards for its workforce initiatives.
